Team Malta won three gold medals at the FISEC Games as the Maltese swimmers enjoyed an excellent day at the National Pool.

Michael Umnov took gold when touching home first in the 200 metres breaststroke final.

In the 50 metres breastroke, it was Julian Harding who secured first place when finishing ahead of team-mate Umnov who grabbed his second medal of the day.

The other gold medallist among the Maltese swimmers yesterday was Amy Micallef who triumphed in the 200 metres breaststroke. Mikela Millo also managed to finish on the podium in this final when placing third.

Neil Muscat was the other medallist for Malta in the pool when he took bronze in the 100 metres backstroke.

In futsal, Malta recorded back-to-back victories as they had the better of France 5-3 before defeating Portugal 8-3 at the University ground.

In table-tennis, Therese Genovese and Sacha Genovese combined to take bronze in the doubles event.

While in the boys’ competition, Andrea Portelli and James Camilleri also placed third.

In football, Malta A went down to France 3-1 with Antoine Attard scoring the hosts’ goal.

Malta B were edged by England 1-0 in another match played at the Sirens ground.
