Maltese in London can forget the grey skies and enjoy a taste of home following the opening of the first Maltese pasticceria.
Parparellu opened its doors on Fulham Palace Road, in Hammersmith last weekend with a reception attended by Maltese High Commissioner Joseph Zammit Tabona.
Guests were treated to a wide selection of mouth-watering savoury and sweet delicacies from the Parparellu menu, including pastizzi, qassatat, timpana and kannoli. Large numbers of London-based Maltese nationals and locals have since visited the pasticceria to satisfy their cravings and curiosity.
Owner Joseph Pace said: “Parparellu is a place where tradition meets contemporary, bringing to London the best Maltese pastry our islands have to offer.”
It was named in honour of Mr Pace’s late father Anthony, whose nickname was Parparellu.
Mr Pace said he was motivated to open the restaurant by “cravings for my homeland and food”.
“I wanted to show off our beautiful food in this amazing city.”
Parparellu is located at 93, Fulham Palace Road, London, W6 8JA. For details e-mail letusknow@parparellu.com.
