Management experience

Over the past 30 years of my career, I spent half of these years as a senior manager. What I have learnt is that people are the most important ingredient of any organisation and that you have to be an effective communicator. Developing your staff is vital to improving and growing an organisation, which is why this is a key priority I constantly focus on.

An MBA and your work

I completed my MBA from the UK around 25 years ago. The experience of studying with like-minded colleagues was extremely valuable.

How you approach leadership and management are the core essentials of an MBA programme. The variety and diversity of case studies greatly shaped my decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

Management in theory and management in practice?

Management theories are simply tools that are applied to real-world situations. It is how you apply them and being articulate in situations when they are really needed and necessary that counts. Without the theory, it will be very hard for the majority of us to be successful, unless you are Richard Branson or Steve Jobs.

Why you should go for an MBA or an MSc course.

MBAs or MSc programmes enable managers and leaders to strengthen their knowledge, skills and understanding of business further. Research has shown that they make a real contribution to the business world, and to one’s personal and professional development.

Differences between these two courses.

There is a clear and fundamental difference between an MBA and an MSc programme. MBA programmes should be geared to middle to senior level managers who have several years’ experience. This is the essence of an MBA.
