A Maltese-registered mega yacht will feature the island as one of its ports of call in a cruise itinerary called Treasures of South Italy and Malta.
Launched last April by Greece-based company Variety Cruises, the Variety Voyager (the Cruise & Travel group, local agents) combines conventional cruising with private yachting for its guests.
At 68 metres, the motor yacht accommodates 72 passengers in 36 wood-panelled cabins and suites finished in rich marbles. Among its facilities are a mini spa, sauna and fitness equipment.
Its relatively small size means the yacht can sail to anchorages barred to larger ships.
Guests may swim off the yacht or reach secluded beaches by tender.
The vessel first called at Grand Harbour on September 19.
It is scheduled to re-visit next June, September and October as part of its seven-day cruise calling at Capri and Lipari in Italy and Cefalu, Licata, Syracuse and Taormina in Sicily.
