Zoe Camilleri has graduated from the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance earlier this summer with a BA (Hons). For the past three years, she has lived and trained in London, focusing on ballet and contemporary dance techniques.
She then started to experiment in choreography, which she hopes to continue doing throughout her career.
She has been taught by great teachers and worked with big names in the dance world, such as Mark Baldwin, for whom Camilleri was part of the cast for his version of The Rite of Spring, performed in multiple theatres, including Sadler’s Wells, London’s biggest dance house.
Robert Cohan also worked with Camilleri’s graduating year, bringing back Class, a Graham technique piece originally choreographed by Cohan in the 1970s. This was performed, accompanied by a live band and in theatres such as The Linbury at the Royal Opera House.
In 2011, she was awarded a full scholarship by the Malta Arts Scholarship Scheme, financed by the Maltese government, which included all tuition fees and a yearly grant for accommodation.
With Malta’s art scene growing and gaining more recognition, Camilleri has decided to move back to Malta to be a part of it.
She will be joining the Malta National Dance Company as an apprentice. Alongside this, she has other projects lined up.
