Sean Vukovic has received an honourable mention by the organisers of the 2010 International Songwriting Competition.

With more than 15,000 entries from 115 countries, this annual song contest is one of the biggest of its kind. It aims to provide opportunities for aspiring and established artists, singers and songwriters to showcase their work on an international platform.

Entries are then judged by a panel of top music scene judges, among them Tom Waits, Peter Gabriel, Jeff Beck and Kings of Leon.

Vukovic’s entry, Song for Rudy was entered in the instrumental category, and despite not placing in the top three, the song was listed as one of the 13 tracks to receive an honourable mention; a remarkable achievement given the overwhelming number of entries competing.

Among the other artists to also receive an honourable mention in the same category as Vukovic are Pete Anderson, a multi-platinum Grammy Award winning producer, songwriter and guitarist; Avetis Berberyan, one of Armenia’s leading composers, and jazz composer, arranger and conductor Chie Imazuma.

Song for Rudy was written, recorded and produced by Vukovic, who is also working on a solo project. Vukovic is a guitar tutor at the Johann Strauss School of Music and is the lead guitarist for Forsaken, Norm Rejection and NV.
