The Malta branch of the Manchester City Supporters Club have announced that on January 27, 2013, the English Premier League trophy will be on display at their base, the Cactus Bar in Buġibba.

“We are delighted to be one of the few branches of the global Manchester City Supporters Club to have been granted the honour of hosting the trophy at our club,” a statement said.

English football enthusiasts, particularly City fans, will surely remember Manchester City’s historic win of the Premiership on the last day of the 2011/12 season – May 13.

On that day, Sergio Aguero’s last-minute winner clinched the title to the immense joy of the City fans worldwide.

Travelling with the cup will be former Manchester City player – now club ambassador – Paul Lake.

Lake, who donned the City colours between 1985 and 1995, has expressed his eagerness to meet Maltese Man. City fans.

The City supporters club also revealed that preparations are underway for the trophy to be taken to the Rainbow Ward at Mater Dei Hospital on January 28.

The club will also be donating €1,000 along with an official Manchester City shirt, signed by David Silva, to the Puttinu Cares Group.
