Maximilian Ciantar was yesterday given a one-month jail term and fined €100 after he threatened four journalists in a court room.

Mr Ciantar, 22, from Marsa, is serving a three-month term after he breached a driving ban for mowing down twin sisters two years ago.

Charged with breaching the driving ban, he turned towards four journalists, including The Times court reporter Waylon Johnston, and said “get out now or I will kick you out”.

On leaving the court room, Mr Ciantar tried to kick Mr Johnston and another journalist but he was found not guilty of attackingthe two.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona ruled that he could not be found guilty of an attempted contravention since he had not been successful in actually kicking anyone.
