Following the success of the pilot launch of automated payment machines in its outlets in Valletta and Paola, Melita is introducing more payment machines around Malta.

The machines form part of the company’s investment programme to enhance customer experience.

The new payment machines are located at the Melita store within GS Superstore in Naxxar and Smart Supermarket in Birkirkara. Other machines are available at Melita’s retail outlets at the Embassy Shopping Centre and Paola Square.

“The payment machines have been a success and are popular with customers. Following the initial feedback, the payment process has been extremely simplified and customers can walk in and out of a store in a few minutes without having to wait in long queues”, said Kevin Borg, head of sales and customer experience at Melita.

Melita estimates that, on average, 40 per cent of payment transactions at the Valletta and Paola outlets are being made through the new automated pay machine.

The machines are easy to use and similar in concept to automated petrol machines. Customers need to follow a simple three-step process: scan the barcode on the bill, insert cash, collect change and receipt.
