St Jeanne Antide College, Primary School Gudja, hosted an Erasmus Plus mobility in Malta after staff members participated in several exchanges abroad throughout the past two years.
A New Sound for the EU led the school staff, 340 students and their families through a journey of folklore, culture, new friendships and above all music and dance, all the way across Europe from France to Turkey, England and on to Croatia and Sweden.
Intensive training sessions and visits to various European schools enabled school administrators, teachers, learning support assistants and volunteers to understand better the intercultural dynamics of mixed ability schooling, differentiation, diversity and inclusion, especially, but not only, in relation to music.
From classroom exhibitions of pupils’ crafts and artefacts, to eTwinning posts, composers, concerts, penfriends, traditional dances, music played on recycled instruments and Skype sessions, children could experience first-hand what it means to be a European citizen.
This journey would not have been possible without the support of the Maltese National Agency EUPA, the Education Directorate, the Curia Secretariat for Education and the Provincial Mother of the Sisters of Charity.
