New Year resolutions

What are your thoughts on New Year resolutions?

They’re a great way of finding what your flaws are, and doing something about them. Daniele Debattista, 20, Mcast Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Construction Engineering.

New Year resolutions are opportunities to make changes and to try to keep them. I don’t believe they work that much. Omar Shamala, 22, Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (Hons).

They are a great way to keep yourself motivated and challenge yourself to see how many achievements you can complete in a year. Looking back on them will give you a massive confidence boost to keep you pushing forward in life. Sara Scerri, 20, Mcast Btec Extended Diploma in Art and Design.

Should they be taken seriously? Do they work?

Yes, they help you be a better person physically and mentally. They work, as long as you are motivated to succeed. Daniele Debattista.

You should take seriously any promise you make to yourself by giving it a lot of thought before and have a strong enough will to maintain it. They only work if they are important to you and if you fight to keep them in both good and bad times. Omar Shamala.

They should be taken seriously as they reflect a person’s wishes. I feel they do work as they give a person confidence to keep pushing forward even through hard times to achieve their hopes . Sara Scerri.

Do you make such resolutions?

Yes. Daniele Debattista.

No, I don’t wait for a New Year to make a change. If it is an important change I would start right now. Omar Shamala.

I do make New Year resolutions every year as a fresh start to the new year. They keep me motivated and I feel proud of myself after I complete them. I manage to complete most of them but some are carried over the next year or two. One of my resolutions is to study harder and show my full potential every time. Sara Scerri.
