The San Ġwann olive grove was inaugurated last year. The trees have grown and we are starting to see the fruit of the work that was carried out to embellish the area. People already walk through the grove and often sit on the benches provided. The local council has done some repairs on some things that had become damaged, either by vandalism or by accident.

When the local council was contacted because the lights were failing to come on at night, the reply came back that the electrical cables were cut off from three different places by government employees and some light fixtures had been torn out of place.

Although it is hard to believe that anybody from a government department would want to do this, the fact remains that the olive grove was last lit up four months ago. Can anyone from either the local council or the government let us know what the situation is please and when the lights are going to be turned back on? How can anyone enjoy the olive grove if it is not safe to walk through at night?
