St Margaret College’s secondary schools were recently presented with the PASCH-school Malta award by Education Minister Evarist Bartolo and German Ambassador Hubert Ziegler.

The Schools: Partners for the Future (PASCH) initiative was set up in February 2008 by the German Federal Foreign Office to create and strengthen a global network of some 1,500 partner schools with special links to Germany.

It aims to stimulate and sustain young people’s interest in and enthusiasm for Germany and the German language, as well as to interconnect the German language all over the world.

As the recipient of the award, St Margaret College secondary schools will henceforth receive support and benefits in the form of teacher training, extended access to teaching material by the Goethe Institute and other organisations.

It will also be eligible to receive travel allowances to take part in student summer courses and various PASCH activities abroad .

For more information on the PASCH initiative contact the German Embassy on 2260 4106, e-mail: pr-10@vall.auswaertiges-amt.de or visit www.pasch-net.de/udi/enindex.htm.
