Shop owners have stopped Transport Malta removing an extended pavement in St Paul’s Bay, as reported in yesterday’s newspaper.

The area of pavement in question is shown above. The photo published in yesterday’s paper showed a different section of pavement in St Paul’s Bay.

Joseph, Miguel and Mariana Portelli, who own three outlets in the locality, complained in court that Transport Malta could not order the pavement’s removal because such a move fell exclusively under the remit of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority.

The three retailers own a lotto office, a café and a wine and tobacco outlet on Tourists Street, corner with Maskli Street.
