This Sunday, elite athletes and runners will be racing around Valletta for the first-ever Global Run Valletta (GRV).
Planned as an annual event to become known among established city-branded races, the course meanders around the 320 monuments of the Unesco-listed city and is expected to be a high-quality sporting feature for both runners and spectators to enjoy.
While entry to the various races is now closed, GRV is inviting photography professionals and enthusiasts to participate in a competition aimed to capture the spectacle of the race.
The photography competition GRV – Sports & Tourism is open to all residents of Malta and Gozo who must be 18 years of age or older at the time of submission. Each participant may submit a maximum of six digital entries which may be monochrome and/or colour. Prizes include cash awards and certificates while the top entries may be featured in a Global Run Valletta Exhibition at the Valletta Cruise Port terminal, which receives thousands of passengers a year.
■ The closing date for the submission of photos is Friday, November 4, at noon (local time). Entry and consent forms and more information are available at www.globalrunvalletta.com/photocompetition. The event area opens on Saturday, October 29, at 9am and closes at 6.30pm. On Sunday, it opens at 7am and closes following the award ceremony scheduled for 11am. The race is the brainchild of Global Ports Holding, the majority shareholder in Valletta Cruise Port which invests in communities and their quality of life as part of its social engagement commitment.
