Playmobil Malta recently hosted members of the UK press who travelled to Malta on a familiarisation visit, led by Graham Brennan, commercial director at Playmobil UK.

Journalists represented The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, and The Daily Telegraph newspapers, as well as The Week and various toy magazines, a parenting blogger, and a children’s radio station.

During their visit, the journalists were taken on a tour of the Playmobil factory in Ħal Far, where they could see how each of the 100 million plus Malta-made Playmobil figures are created and assembled every year, as well as how high safety standards are met.

The programme for the visit included an informal meeting with Playmobil Malta chief executive officer Helga Ellul, who explained how a family business set up in 1974 was transformed into a global toy giant. Playmobil’s corporate press executive Judith Weingart explained the rationale behind the design of Playmobil’s toys and presented early Playmobil designs, sketches, moulds, models and products from yesteryear.

The delegation also visited the adjoining FunPark.
