Police hunt driver who hit pensioner

Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck an 84-year-old man while he was crossing Naxxar Road, Birkirkara, yesterday morning.

The man, who suffered serious injuries but is not in a critical condition, was hos-pitalised shortly after the incident at 6am.

In a separate incident, an 80-year-old-man from Floriana was yesterday in a critical condition after he was hit by a car on St Anne Street in the morning. The accident happened at about 8.45am, a few metres from the traffic lights. People on the scene said the man was seen rolling onto the bonnet of the car, a Rover 620, and hitting the windscreen. The car was being driven by a 21-year-old man from Żurrieq.
