As part of its calendar activities, the Port of Valletta Propeller Club recently held a business lunch at the Grand Hotel Excelsior to develop further its objectives.

Among the distinguished guests were Thomas Schmidt, Chief, Political and Economic sections at the US Embassy, James Piscopo, CEO of Transport Malta, Ivan Sammut, and Capt. David Bugeja from Transport Malta. The lunch was also attended by the governors, members and even non-members interested in joining the club.

The club primarily aims at promoting and supporting the maritime transport industry and all allied activities of the wide-ranging maritime cluster that has developed in Malta.

The scope is to nurture a spirit of collaboration and common purpose among people engaged in the maritime cluster and to establish links with other Propeller Clubs in the US and overseas ports.

The club is currently working on the creation of a new website which is expected to be launched next month with the aim of enticing other maritime executive members to join and to serve the development of maritime services in Malta.

The next event is planned for early October, which will hopefully be held in co-operation with other Propeller Clubs overseas.

Further details will be communicated either through the website or through newsletters issued by the club.

Anyone requiring information regarding membership may contact the club by sending an e-mail to ships@go.net.mt.
