Prickly and green, big and small, round and tall, more than 350 succulents and cacti are out on a spiny display.
Running until the end of this month, the plants are on show at Sherries Garden Centre in Burmarrad, with the most expensive and prestigious of the lot being the Dasylirion longissimum plant.
Also known as the Mexican Grass Tree, this is a species of flowering plant native to the Chihuahuan Desert and other dry habitats in northeastern Mexico.
Another species at the show is the Golden Barrel Cactus, Golden Ball or Mother-in-Law’s Cushion.
The Echinocactus grusonii is endemic to east-central Mexico.
Rare and endangered in the wild, it is found near Mesa de Léon in the states of Querétaro and Hidalgo.
The cactus grows in volcanic rock on slopes at altitudes of around 1,400 metres.
