Over the past months the main political parties have been harping on promises and exchanging views over who has done or will be providing the best solutions for persons with disabilities.

Two very important issues that for long needed prioritising are the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the rights of people with disabilities and the Guardianship Act. Now, that Parliament is in session, will our parliamentarians give priority to the disabled and approve the Guardianship Act and ratify the UN Convention?

Will our politicians, again procrastinate and disappoint those Maltese citizens, whose needs require priority, and end this legislature without finalising these priorities?

If our politicians, with all their goodwill, fail to give priority to our disabled citizens, then they should not be surprised when persons with disabilities and their relatives choose not to give priority to politics and politicians.
