The six-year saga to save Gozo’s Ramla L-Ħamra from a 23-villa development is over, according to environmental group Save Ramla.

The NGO yesterday said this was confirmed through communication from the Malta Environment and Planning Authority chairman to architect Lino Bianco, who was engaged by Save Ramla.

A permit to redevelop Ulysses Lodge into villas was granted in 2007 but later withdrawn on the grounds that the developer provided incorrect information.

The applicant appealed and the Environment and Planning Review Tribunal confirmed the revocation. A further appeal filed against the tribunal’s decision was dismissed by the Court of Appeal.
