Those so-called ‘PN switchers’ who voted Labour for the first time in 2013 and have since switched back to the PN must already be thinking of returning to Labour after hearing the Budget speeches by the Leader of the Opposition and the Prime Minister.

Last Monday we watched Simon Busuttil dispensing fear and doubt about the present and the future while at the same time trying to take credit for the government’s successes.

On Tuesday, on the other hand, we heard Joseph Muscat demolishing Dr Busuttil’s doom and gloom speech with detailed facts about how people have bene­fitted from this Budget, especially those who are at the lower end of the socio-economic ladder. The Prime Minister also offered hope of an even better future for all our people.
