A heavy downpour plays havoc with the traffic, especially at rush hours. Only good roads that are water-free can ease the traffic flow on a busy road. Roads, though well maintained, need constant attention, as otherwise they become prone to accidents.

However, at times it seems those responsible travel by air when it is raining heavily, or that they regard easy solutions unworthy of people of skill and action.

Road hazards cause potentially fatal accidents, besides involving waste of time and energy and great inconvenience.

One wonders, when so much effort has been made to embellish the island and make roads safer, why part of the Salina coast road is allowed to turn into a lake after a heavy downpour, stopping cars and creating confusion.

This inconvenience has taken too long to be addressed. It shows negligence at its worst when the remedy seems to be so straightforward.

This time we are not pinpointing a hole in a bucket; we need one to drain the water and make it flow to the garigue to make it greener and to the sea to make it fresher. There does not seem to be any problem to do this.

This complacency is creating delays, accidents of all kinds, and unpredictable incidents. Such dangerous spots should never be overlooked. With the local councils, the citizen got used to having complaints treated somehow, especially where there are no unusual difficulties.
