The career of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding composer has been transformed since their royal nuptials.

Paul Mealor has gone from being a little-known Welsh musician to global recognition after his choral work was chosen by William and Kate for their marriage ceremony in April.

The wedding piece Ubi Caritas was even performed in America as part of the official 10th anniversary commemoration service marking the 9/11 New York terrorist attacks.

And his debut CD A Tender Light was released last week by Decca Records just a few days short of the anniversary of the royal engagement announcement last year on November 16.

It features his now famous work Ubi Caritas, older compositions, three new pieces and is dedicated to the Duke and his wife with their blessing.

The Welsh composer said: “It’s been a whirlwind year which stated back last November when I was contacted by the palace because they wanted to include one of my pieces in the royal wedding and almost a year later my CD has come out.”

Mr Mealor, 35, added: “I think the amount that I owe William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess, is huge - it’s unbelievable.”
