Tony Drago and Alex Borg teamed up perfectly once again yesterday to chalk up their second 5-0 victory at the Snooker World Cup, this time beating the Norwegian partnership of Kurt Maflin and his wife Anita in Wixu, China.
Norway had beaten Singapore 3-2 in their first match on Monday but found the Maltese challenge a lot more difficult to crack before succumbing to a heavy defeat.
Today, Drago and Borg play Singapore who came a cropper against hosts China A and lost their second match 5-0 yesterday.
In the other qualifier from Group A, India beat Austria 5-0.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed that the winners of the World Cup will be sure of a place at the Champion of Champions.
With the 2015 tournament set for the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, from November 10-15, there are ten players so far guaranteed a place at one of snooker’s most prestigious invitational events.
Defending champion Ronnie O’Sullivan and world champion Stuart Bingham lead the list.
The Snooker World Cup has been added to the first group of qualifying events which means that both members of the winning pair will be guaranteed spots in the Champion of Champions.
