Following the success of the first edition held last year, the Sette Giugno Cruise to Pozzallo, organised by the Malta Cruising Club (MCC), is on again next month.

From confirmations received so far it seems that the cruising fleet of this second edition will be bigger than that of last year.

For this event non-members are welcome to join MCC members to what is meant to be an enjoyable all-family event.

The Pozzallo section of Lega Navale are once again extending their enthusiastic collaboration to the “Veleggiata dei Cavalieri 2014” as the event is referred to on the finish side of the 93km crossing.

A repeat of last year’s start procedure is again being adopted whereby each boat leaves the islands at its cruising speed.

This means that if a boat cruises at six-and-a-half knots, it will leave at 6.30am, a boat that cruises at 7 knots leaves at 7am and so forth.

Such a procedure should have participating boats within sight of each other for most of the trip where all boats should arrive at Pozzallo by early in the afternoon.

This year, the Sette Giugno Cruise starts on Friday, June 6.

On Saturday morning the Maltese yachts will be joined by other boats from the Lega Navale Sezione di Pozzallo for a sail along the Pozzallo coastline and a run up to the Isola dei Porri following which the Maltese sailing community will visit a winery in Rosolini for a wine tasting presentation over a selection of Sicilian delicacies.

On Sunday morning, Mass will be held at the Pozzallo clubhouse on the marina where the MCC yachts will be berthed.
