I have placed a complaint with the Roads Infrastructure Directorate to look into the white bays below this sign at Triq San Ġiljan, San Ġwann, opposite Mater Dei Hospital.
This is because the wardens giving out contravention tickets interpret this sign and road markings as either that:
1. Parking is only allowed for mini vans and coaches and these are to park within the stipulated time (in which case bays should be yellow not white); or
2. Anyone can park outside the stipulated times (in which case the sign is not indicating this to the driver).
Contravention tickets are issued and the San Ġwann local council is benefiting from this.
Moreover, no mini vans or coaches are ever parked during the stipulated time which means that this sign is past its use-by-date.
Until the Roads Infrastructure Directorate gets things underway may we know what is expected of us drivers? I think the San Ġwann council should be the first to clear up this anomaly.
