Atturi Salesjani will be presenting the translation of a classic gem of contemporary theatre, the play Trees Die Standing Tall by Alejandro Casona.

The play is a unique combination of surrealism and romance, a game between reality and emotions.

Casona opens a window to the human soul, just like he does in all his plays, in an effort to exalt a world of illusion opposite to the misery and disappointment of reality. This is the most translated and performed play outside of Spain during the author’s lifetime.

For over 20 years, an elderly man convinces his wife that their long-lost criminal grandson has changed his ways to become a successful professional and loving husband. When he learns of his grandson’s death, he decides to keep yet another secret and arranges for a false couple to pose as their exiled grandson and his wife. Will they be able to convince her?

Is-Siġar Imutu Wieqfa was transalted into Maltese by Joe Fenech and is being directed by Joe Camilleri.

The performance will be held at the Salesian Theatre, Howard Street, Sliema, on November 30 and December 1 at 7.30pm.
