A man whose jeep was hit by a speeding Mercedes, ejecting him from the vehicle, has been awarded over €34,000 in damages for the injuries he suffered.
Mario Mifsud claimed in court that he suffered a permanent disability after Roderick Azzopardi crashed into his jeep in Mqabba in September 2004.
Both men blamed the other for the accident. But the court ruled that Mr Azzopardi was responsible for the car crash.
The witnesses produced testified that he was driving his Mercedes too fast and that he had overtaken four cars by crossing a continuous white line. Mr Mifsud said Mr Azzopardi, driving at speed, crashed into the back of his jeep causing it to spin three times and throwing him into the road.
Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco established that Mr Mifsud suffered a permanent disability of five per cent and ordered Mr Azzopardi to pay him €34,119.66 in damages.
