Montpellier: French club Montpellier announced the signing of full-back Henri Bedimo on a four-year contract from fLens. The 27-year-old, who has 15 caps for Cameroon, came through the youth system at Toulouse and represented Le Havre and Chat-eauroux before joining Lens mid-way through the 2009-10 season.
Douchez: PSG have announced that Rennes goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez has ag-reed to join the capital club on a three-year contract. Douchez began his career with Le Havre but did not play a game before moving on to Chateauroux and Toulouse before joining Rennes in 2008.
Bojan: Barcelona are in talks with Udinese over a possible move for Arsenal and Liverpool target Bojan Krkic to the Serie A outfit. The 20-year-old forward is reportedly being offered to Udinese as part of a deal which would see winger Alexis Sanchez move to the Nou Camp this summer.
Alaba: Bayern Munich midfielder David Alaba has signed a two-year extension to his contract at the Allianz Arena. The 19-year-old is now tied to the Bavaria club until June 2015.
Campagnaro: Napoli defender Hugo Campagnaro is counting his lucky stars after being involved in a shocking traffic accident that left three people dead in Argentina this week. Campagnaro was driving a Toyota Hilux with two passengers an board when his car was involved in a crash with a Volkswagen Polo. Among those who were killed were Campagnaro’s close friend Alvaro Castelli.
Sanchez: Primera Liga club Villarreal have signed veteran goalkeeper Cesar Sanchez on a one-year deal. The 39-year-old’s contract with rivals Valencia was due to expire at the end of the month and he has joined the Yellow Submarine on a free transfer, reports said.
Tennis: Rafael Nadal crashed out of Queen’s when Jo-Wilfried Tsonga pulled off a shock 6-7, 6-4, 6-1 win in the quarter-finals. Nadal arrived at the Wimbledon warm-up event admitting he felt exhausted in the aftermath of his triumph at the French Open. Despite his tiredness this was still a major blow for the Spaniard, who had reached seven successive finals before this defeat, and it leaves him short of game time on grass ahead of the defence of his Wimbledon title later this month.
Motor racing: Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon will not be among a record 30 drivers who start today in the IndyCar Twin 275s, a unique double-header at Texas Motor Speedway. Wheldon’s team assembled only enough money for a ride at the signature event in the 17-race series and as a result he will only be a spectator for the showdown at Fort Worth.
Athletics: South Africa’s Oscar Pistorius, who dreams of qualifying for next year’s London Olympics, brings his quest to today’s Diamond League meet at New York. The 24-year-old runner who captured four Paralympic gold medals, is set to compete in the 400m against a field that includes US star Jeremy Wariner.
Basket, NBA: Dirk Nowitzki scored 29 points and Jason Terry had 21 to lead Dallas to a 112-103 win over Miami that put the Mavericks 3-2 up and on the brink of the first NBA title in franchise history. Game five is tomorrow in Miami.
