Kvist: Danish defensive midfielder William Kvist yesterday joined Stuttgart on a three-year deal, the German club announced on their website. A Denmark international with 20 caps, 26-year-old Kvist arrives from FC Copenhagen, where he was captain and with whom he reached the round of 16 in last season’s Champions League. Neither Stuttgart nor Copenhagen have revealed details of the transfer fee.

Buffon: Italy and Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon married Czech model, TV show host and actress Alena Seredova in Prague yesterday. Dozens of people attended the ceremony at St Peter and Paul Church on a hill above the Vltava river in the centre of Seredova’s native city. Buffon and Seredova, both 33, have been together for six years.

Edmundo: Former Brazil forward Edmundo was arrested yesterday in connection with a car crash in 1995 that left three dead. Edmundo was detained in a Sao Paulo hotel following an arrest warrant which had been issued for him on Tuesday. His lawyers are planning an appeal, according to a report on Globonews.

Dembele: Bundesliga side Freiburg signed Malian international striker Garra Dembele from Bulgarian outfit Levski Sofia for €2 million. The 25-year-old French-born forward was leading scorer for Levski last season with 36 goals in all competitions, but nullified this good impression by being found guilty of drink driving and sentenced to an eight month jail term, which was suspended, and three years probation.
