Ribery: Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery has reportedly been fined €50,000 for a dressing room bust-up with Arjen Robben at half-time in the Champions League win over Real Madrid. Bild said Ribery lashed out at Robben after an argument over a first-half free-kick in the 2-1 semi-final first-leg win.
Rossi: Giuseppe Rossi has said an operation to repair a torn cruciate knee ligament in the US has been a success. The American-born Italy and Villarreal forward announced the news on his Twitter account. He is expected to be out for six months.
Azzurri: Italy’s friendly with Luxembourg on May 29 will be played in Parma. This will be the final match played on Italian soil before Euro 2012. After the Luxembourg game, the Azzurri will play Russia on June 1 in Zurich. Their base camp for the championship will be in Krakow, Poland.
Cleared: Motherwell mid-fielder Steve Jennings has been cleared of any wrongdoing following an investigation into alleged betting irregularities. The 27-year-old was one of nine men arrested in October 2010 on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud. The probe followed reports of irregular betting patterns on Motherwell’s 2-1 defeat by Hearts last December, during which Jennings was sent off.
Fined: Sunderland were hit with a fine after being found guilty of a misconduct charge stemming from last month’s stormy 3-3 draw with Manchester City. The Black Cats were fined £30,000 after an angry reaction from their players towards referee Phil Dowd following his awarding of a 43rd-minute penalty.
