Manchester derby: April’s pivotal Manchester derby at Old Trafford has been moved back two days to Monday, April 8 – depending on United’s continued involvement in the Champions League. The Champions League quarter-final second legs are scheduled for April 9 and 10, in which case United’s involvement would make the prospective Monday date with City impractical.

Jailed: A former South Africa assistant coach has been sentenced to eight years in jail for trying to bribe a referee to help a lower-league team. Phil Setshedi, who was Clive Barker’s assistant when South Africa won the 1996 African Nations Cup, will serve three years with the other five suspended.

Healy: Northern Ireland striker David Healy has been accused of assault. The 33-year-old did not attend Laganside Magistrates’ Court for his first appearance yesterday. Healy, who currently plays for Bury, is accused of assaulting James Geroid Crossan on May 26 last year.

Stand closed: The Arena do Gremio stadium will have to close one of its stands for its next Copa Libertadores game following the problems that left a number of fans injured in the last round of the tournament. Last month, during Gremio’s 1-0 win over Deportiva, fans celebrated Elano’s goal with a so-called ‘avalanche’, in which fans rush to the front of the terrace.
