Kjaer: Denmark central defender Simon Kjaer has joined French side Lille from VfL Wolfsburg on a four-year deal, the Ligue 1 club said yesterday. Local media reported that Lille paid two million euros for the 24-year-old Kjaer, who has won 35 caps for his country. He joined Wolfsburg from Italian side Palermo for €12 million in 2010.
Hernanes: Lazio president Claudio Lotito has rejected reports linking Ligue 1 champions PSG with a move for Brazilian midfielder Hernanes. Reports have suggested big-spending PSG have approached Lazio for the 28-year-old playmaker but Lotito rejected the idea, telling reporters: “It is a totally false story.”
Hearts: Danny Wilson said he is ignoring the uncertainty surrounding Hearts to stay at the club “for the long haul.” The 21-year-old defen-der agreed a three-year deal with the Jambos but could have moved on when the Tynecastle club entered administration. He said: “I had other offers but I made the commitment in May to stay here and I made a lot of changes in my life for that.”
Toni: Former Italy striker Luca Toni has signed a one-year contract with Verona, the promoted Serie A club said. The 36-year-old’s deal with Fiorentina ended at the start of this month. Toni has played for some of Europe’s biggest teams, including Juventus and Bayern Munich.
Coquelin: Arsenal have confirmed the departure of midfielder Francis Coquelin on a loan transfer. Coquelin, 22, will move to Germany, with Freiburg taking the former France Under-21 international to the Mage Solar Stadion for the forthcoming campaign.
Koreas: The South Korean government yesterday authorised the North Korean women’s soccer team to enter the South to take part in the East Asian Cup amid fresh attempts to ease tensions between the political rivals. It will be the first time in more than four years that a team representing the North visits the South. The championship runs from July 20 to 28 in Seoul, and in Hwaseong to the south of the capital.
