Osvaldo: Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo has angered the Serie A club after refusing to open negotiations with Southampton. Roma had reportedly accepted a €20m bid from the English Premier League side. However, the Italy international refused to enter negotiations over personal terms with the Saints to call off the transfer deal.
Honduras: An injury time winner from Jorge Claros gave Honduras a 1-0 victory over old rivals El Salvador on Friday and sealed a place in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Honduras lead Group B with a maximum six points from two games, with Haiti, who beat Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 on Friday, second on three points. West Ham: Goals by Kevin Nolan and Jack Collison guided West Ham to a 2-0 victory at Bournemouth in a testimonial game for Stephen Purches at the Goldsands Stadium. The Hammers took the lead after nine minutes when Nolan headed in from Guy Demel’s cross. Collison added a second just before the break when he rounded off the opposing goalkeeper and hit home from close in.
Fer: Norwich City further strengthened their squad ahead of the new season by signing Dutch inter-national Leroy Fer on a four-year deal yesterday. The former Feyenoord midfielder joins the Canaries from Twente. The 23-year-old Fer is manager Chris Hughton’s sixth signing of the transfer window.
