Chadli: Tottenham have completed the signing of Belgian winger Nacer Chadli from FC Twente and he could feature in their pre-season friendly against Monaco on August 3. Chadli’s move to White Hart Lane, for a reported £7 million, was confirmed by Spurs yesterday.
Train Crash: Deportivo defender Juan Dominguez has taken leave from pre-season training after learning that two of his relatives were among the victims of Wednesday’s fatal train crash near Santiago de Compostela, Galicia. The 23-year-old centre-back lost a cousin and aunt in the crash, which has claimed the lives of 80 people.
Rami: Valencia defender Adil Rami is the subject of interest from a number of Serie A clubs. “There is no clause for Rami but Valencia want to sell him for €12m – that’s how much they bought him for. In addition to Napoli there is another Italian club interested, but it’s not Roma,” Rami’s agent told reporters.
Stoke: Mark Hughes, the Stoke City manager, said the club are interested in signing Benfica striker Nelson Oliveira on a season-long loan deal. The 21-year-old is highly rated by his current club but they would be interested in sending him out on a temporary basis.
Coventry: Coventry have agreed terms to purchase land for their new stadium. The Sky Blues, who have left the Ricoh Arena after becoming embroiled in a bitter rent row, will play at Northampton’s Sixfields Stadium for the next four years while they build a new home in the city. And the first steps have already been taken after the club agreed terms on a site six miles outside the city.
