NEVILLE: The father of former England players Gary and Phil Neville has been cleared of sexually assaulting a woman. Neville Neville, 64, admitted he engaged in sexual activity with the middle-aged complainant in her car just 20 yards from his house but said it was consensual. The woman told a jury at Bolton Crown Court that Neville drunkenly forced himself upon her. Neville bowed his head as the woman foreman delivered the verdict after the jury deliberated for just under 75 minutes.

RANGERS: Shareholders at former Scottish champions Rangers re-elected all five directors to the board yesterday following an appeal from the chief executive for stability after two years of turmoil. Graham Wallace, appointed chief executive last month, said he planned a review of all aspects of the club’s operations over the coming months following financial collapse last year.Wallace is the third chief executive Rangers have had since the start of 2013 as feuding for control of the boardroom threatened to undermine the club’s progress on the pitch.

DEULOFEU: Everton forward Gerard Deulofeu’s hamstring injury could sideline the Spanish under-21 international for up to two months. The player is on loan from Barce-lona for the season and the Spanish club said that tests conducted in the Catalan capital had shown he would be out for “approximately six to eight weeks”. Deulofeu is to recuperate in Spain under the supervision of Barca medical staff and their Everton counterparts.

RAFINHA: Bayern Munich right-back Rafinha has signed a contract extension to keep him at the club until 2017. The 28-year-old’s existing deal was due to expire at the end of next season. But a post on Bayern’s official Twitter feed read: “Official: Rafinha (28) just extended his contract with FCB by 3 years to 2017!” The Brazilian, who was signed from Genoa in 2011, has made 24 appearances in all competitions for Bayern this season.
