Adnan: Primera Liga strugglers Real Betis have signed former Real Madrid goalkeeper Antonio Adan. The 26-year-old hit the headlines in December 2012 when then Madrid boss Jose Mourinho controversially opted to drop club captain and long-serving number one Iker Casillas and replace him with little-known back-up keeper Adan. Adan only played a handful of first-team matches for Madrid before the club signed Diego Lopez in last January’s transfer window and he opted to leave his home-town club last summer.
Bale: Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale will miss today’s King’s Cup quarter-final second leg at home to Espanyol due to a problem with his left leg, coach Carlo Ancelotti said. The Welsh international suffered the injury in Saturday’s 2-0 La Liga win over Granada at the Bernabeu. Bale took a painful kick to the groin early in the first half and played on until half time before being substituted.
West Ham: West Ham’s net debt has increased to £77 million and owners David Sullivan and David Gold have loaned the club another £10.5 million to try to secure their Premier League status, the club’s annual accounts have revealed. For the year ending May 31 2013, when they finished 10th in the Premier League, West Ham enjoyed record revenue of £89.8 million and had more commercial income than ever before but the club still made a loss of £3.5 million.
Rodrigues: Levski Sofia winger Garry Rodrigues has joined La Liga strugglers Elche until the end of the season, the 26-times Bulgarian champions said yesterday. The 23-year-old Cape Verde international, who refused a trial with English top-flight team West Ham United earlier this month, scored 21 goals in 45 matches after joining Levski in February.
Jouffre: Lorient midfielder Yann Jouffre has extended his contract by two more years to commit his future to the Ligue 1 club until June 2016. The 29-year-old, who has scored six league goals this season, joined the Breton side from Guingamp in 2008.
