Ling quits: Swindon Town manager Martin Ling has resigned due to health reasons. Ling only took over at the County Ground on November 3 and guided the Robins to five wins in his nine games during his 56-day spell in charge. Ling took time out for depression during his time as Torquay manager in February 2013 and the Swindon job was his first managerial role since he left Plainmoor.

Denis Suarez: Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has been impressed by Villarreal winger Denis Suarez and could try to bring him back during the January transfer window. Barca have a buy-back option on Suarez which they could activate at the end of the season. “We have been watching him,” Luis Enrique said. “He is playing at a very good level and could be an interesting option.”

Rigoni: Veteran midfielder Luca Rigoni will be playing for Genoa for the rest of the season after agreeing to leave Palermo in next month’s transfer window. The 31-year-old has been left out of the squad since the Sicilian side’s embarrassing Italian Cup exit to lowly Alessandria. Rigoni had joined Palermo from Chievo in 2014 and managed one goal in 10 matches this season.

Grimaldo: Barcelona left-back Alex Grimaldo is leaving the club to join Benfica. The 20-year-old has been with the Catalan giants for seven years and went on to become captain of the Barca B team. However, Grimaldo has decided to move on before making a first-team appearance, with Benfica agreeing to sign the full-back for €1.5 million.

Sacked again: Turkish top-tier club Genclerbirligi fired their fifth coach since the start of the season after only one match in charge. Yilmaz Vural managed the side for six days and one away league game which they lost 2-0. Genclerbirligi have 13 points from 17 games and are 16th in the 18-team standings. Ilhan Cavcav, president of the club, has appointed 51 different coaches since taking over in 1981.
