Kimpembe: PSG have announced defender Presnel Kimpembe has signed a contract extension that runs through to the summer of 2021. The 21-year-old, who came through PSG’s youth set-up, has made 18 senior appearances for the club so far and last month received his first call-up to the France squad. Kimpembe said: “My ambitions for this season? Win titles, play as much as possible and experience some great moments.”
Davies: Ben Davies will miss Wales’s World Cup qualifier against Serbia on Saturday. The Tottenham defender suffered an ankle injury during the 1-0 Champions League defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last week. Sunderland full-back Adam Matthews, who is on loan at Bristol City, has been called into the squad to replace Davies.
Kalinic: Nikola Kalinic, the Fiorentina forward, will not be available for international duty with Croatia as he needs treatment for a pulled hamstring. The 28-year-old played all match in Fiorentina’s one-all draw at home to Sampdoria on Sunday but he will not join up with his national side for a World Cup qualifier against Iceland on Saturday and next week’s friendly against Northern Ireland.
Evra: Juventus defender Patrice Evra has been called up to France’s squad for the matches against Sweden and the Ivory Coast as a replacement for injured fellow left-back Layvin Kurzawa. A statement on the French Football Federation’s official website said Paris St Germain’s Kurzawa had withdrawn due to a groin problem. France host Sweden in a World Cup qualifier on Friday, then the Ivory Coast in a friendly four days later.
Banned: Four Laos internationals have been provisionally suspended for suspected match-fixing, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said. Saynakhonevieng Phommapanya, Chintana Souksavath, Moukda Souksavath and Phatthana Syvilay played in Laos’s first match of the AFC Solidarity Cup in Malaysia on Thursday, a 2-1 win over Sri Lanka. The AFC said their ban was not only related to the Solidarity Cup but also to “suspected manipulation of multiple matches since 2010.”
