Bayern Munich: Runaway leaders Bayern Munich suffered only their second Bundesliga defeat of the season when they were beaten 1-0 at surprise package Hoffenheim yesterday. Third-placed Hoffenheim, whose 29-year-old coach Julian Nagelsmann is the youngest in the league, dominated the first half and deservedly won with a goal from Andrej Kramaric.
Charged: Leeds defender Liam Cooper has been charged with alleged violent conduct by the FA. The charge relates to a second-half incident during Saturday’s 1-0 Championship defeat at Reading. TV footage appeared to show Cooper catch Reading substitute Reece Oxford on the side of the head as he lay on the floor.
PSG: Paris St Germain will be without captain Thiago Silva and Angel Di Maria when they visit third-division Avranches for a French Cup quarter-final today. “We will travel with a 19-man squad. Marquinhos, (Grzegorz) Krychowiak and Thiago Silva are injured,” coach Unai Emery said.
Pinilla: Genoa striker Mauricio Pinilla has been banned for five matches for striking the referee during Sunday’s 5-0 home defeat by Atalanta. The Chile international was sent off in the second half after picking up two yellow cards in quick succession, the first for a tackle and the second for his protests against the decisions of referee Claudio Gavillucci.
Appiah: Ghana have returned Kwesi Appiah to his former post as national team coach after appointing him on a two-year contract. He replaces Avram Grant, whose contract was not renewed after Ghana finished fourth at the African Nations Cup in Gabon in February.
