Boxing: A rejuvenated Audley Harrison answered some of his critics with a second-round stoppage win over Derric Rossy in the Prizefighter International Heavyweight tournament. Harrison unloaded a perfect left hook to knock a bloody Rossy down towards the end of the first round and the New York fighter could barely stand through the second before the referee called a timely end to proceedings.

Horse Racing: Australian jockey Zac Purton produced a masterful ride to lead Military Attack to a surprise win in the HK$8 million ($1.03 million) Hong Kong Gold Cup. The Irish horse, formally called Rave, finished ahead of Pure Champion with Douglas Whyte third.

Cycling: Britain’s Rebecca James won the last event on the track for her fourth medal and second gold to become the most successful rider of the world cycling championships yesterday. The 21-year-old from Wales, who claimed the women’s sprint crown on Saturday, took the lead midway through the eight-lap Keirin race and maintained her advantage all the way to the finish.

Tennis: Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga beat world number six Tomas Berdych 3-6 7-6 6-4 in the Marseille Open final. Tsonga was trailing 5-6 in the second-set tie-break but hit back-to-back aces to push the Czech to a decisive set and eventually put an end to his losing run against Berdych.
