DOPING: Disgraced sprinter Ben Johnson is to mark 25 years since his infamous 100m Olympics by launching a global anti-doping campaign in London. Johnson, who failed a drugs test after winning the 100m at the Seoul Olympics on September 24, 1988, arrived in the UK this week at the start of a world tour to launch a new anti-doping initiative. He will promote a campaign, called ‘Choose The Right Track’ which has been launched by the sportswear company SKINS. Johnson will tour his home country of Canada as well as the United States, Australia and Japan culminating in a visit to the Jamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul on September 24.

ROWING: A broken rib sustained in a collision with a truck while out on his bicycle has forced Olympic champion Mahe Drysdale to finish his world rowing championships early in South Korea. The 34-year-old Drysdale, who won the single sculls gold at London, rode his bike into a truck in the lead-up to the championships in Chungju and aggravated the injury on Wednesday in his failed bid to make the event’s semi-finals.

RUGBY UNION: Former Wales and British and Irish Lions fly-half Cliff Morgan has died at the age of 83, the Welsh Rugby Union has an-nounced. Morgan won 29 caps and also captained the Lions. He was also a distinguished BBC broadcaster and commentator. Morgan commentated for the BBC on the famous Barbarians vs New Zealand match at Cardiff Arms Park 40 years ago, when scrum-half Gareth Edwards scored arguably the most famous try in rugby history. He was also head of BBC outside broadcasts and a regular voice on BBC radio.

MOTOR RACING: Former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte will miss Sunday’s race in Atlanta after breaking three ribs in a bicycle accident near his home in Trinity, North Carolina on Wednesday. The 49-year-old Texan was taken to a nearby hospital after the crash and remained there overnight for observation, a spokesman for the driver said. Labonte, the 2000 series champion who has won 21 Cup races during his career, will be replaced by Mike Bliss in the No. 51 Phoenix Racing Chevrolet at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday.
