Virtual reality, Malta’s underwater history and the local language situation are the themes of this summer’s first edition of Think talks to be held on Wednesday at 7.30pm at the Quadrangle at the University of Malta’s Msida campus.
The series of talks offer University researchers an opportunity to showcase their work to the public and promise audiences a fun evening of fascinating research, followed by refreshments.
Dr Vanessa Camilleri from the University’s Faculty of ICT will focus on the virtual reality experience that she and her research team created to help enhance users’ empathy towards people from different cultures through storytelling. Those attending will also be able to try on a VR headset.
Dr Timmy Gambin from the Faculty of Arts will share his team’s efforts to bring to light the wealth of the Maltese islands’ underwater history, including compiling a vast catalogue of long-lost artifacts.
Dr Sarah Grech from the Centre for English Language Proficiency will tackle language sensitivities in Malta and the importance of context when discussing the subject.
All are welcome to attend.
