I agree with Edwin Gauci’s letter (June 27) regarding tax on pensions.
The €8,500 threshold for single people and €11,900 for a couple has not changed since 2008.
This means many pensioners who receive the maximum pension or an overseas one are seeing their tax share increase every year.
I have already written on the subject and e-mailed the finance minister as well.
I believe in paying my share of taxes.
However, I think it’s very unfair that while others are receiving tax cuts and some even evade paying them, including politicians who in the past held Swiss accounts, pensioners continue to see their pensions eroded through higher taxes.
