Napoli beat Fiorentina 3-1 in a highly-charged Coppa Italia final in Rome last night with young winger Lorenzo Insigne (picture) scoring two goals in the opening half and Dries Mertens sealing the win late on. The match was delayed by 45 minutes after three Napoli fans were shot in clashes near the stadium. Police said one of the men was taken to hospital in a critical condition after being hit in the chest while the two others were shot in the arms and also in hospital. The pistol used in the incidents has been found by the police, ANSA news agency said. Insigne scored his goals early on and Juan Vargas pulled one back for Fiorentina on 28 minutes. Napoli had wing-back Gokhan Inler sent off 11 minutes from time for a second booking but the Viola failed to profit despite introducing fit-again striker Giuseppe Rossi as a late substitute. Mertens killed off Fiorentina’s hopes deep into stoppage time.
