Valletta Lions, the newly-established table football club, have just completed their squad for the new season with the signing of a third foreigner – Maikel de Hass.

De Hass, a former Dutch international, joins compatriots Patrick de Jong and Jerrel van Keimpema who also moved to the Lions in the off-season.

The City players are currently fine-tuning their pre-season training ahead of the European club competitions to be played in Naples soon.

Speaking during a committee meeting, club president Joe Zammit Pavia told members he was very optimistic ahead of the new season, especially now, that together with the input of vice-president Joseph Mifsud, they have finalised De Hass’s signing on the eve of the transfer deadline.

Zammit Pavia said Valletta Lions now have a squad of 18 players at the club, including a few juniors from the nursery ranks.

The Lions made their international debut this month when they finished runners-up in the International Open played in Malta, winning nine points from a possible 12.
