Following their participation in the Midce competition which took place earlier this year, three Maltese ballet students attended The Mediterranean International Dance competition held in Acitrezza in Sicily.

Jessica Mallia, 8, Kenzie Galea, 9, and Leonora Chircop, 18, were accompanied by their ballet tutor and choreographer Johane Casabene.

The event was organised by Vincenzo Macario, under the patronage of acclaimed ballet dancer, Carla Fracci.

The dancers took part in various competitions in each dance genre. Leonora won first place for classical ballet with her performance of the Swanilda Variation from the ballet Coppelia by Delibes, while Jessica and Kenzie were jointly awarded first prize in the classical ballet category for their age group for their performances.
