Title challengers Luxol St An-drew’s, Ħamrun Spartans and Valletta obtained important victories in the Gatorade Futsal League.
Luxol beat Swieqi United 6-0 to maintain their two-point lead over Ħamrun and Valletta.
St Andrew’s hit the ground running, scoring six times through Zvezdan Vukovic, Frane Despotovic, Mark Zammit, Carl Azzopardi, William Barbosa and an own goal.
This was Luxol’s 10th victory in as many matches this season.
In an interesting clash, Ħamrun had the better of Msida 9-4 to stay close to leaders Luxol.
Msida gave a good account of themselves and, at one stage, were on level terms at 3-3. The Spartans staged a strong reaction to secure the points.
Brazilian duo Raphinha and Rodrigo hit a brace while Michel Melo Jose, Michael Spiteri, Andy Mangion, Joan Losada and Peter Pullicino were also on the scoresheet for the Spartans.
Paulo Mendes da Silva scored a hat-trick for Msida with Christopher Arturo Navarro contributing the other goal.
Valletta proved too strong for Gozo FC, winning 18-0.
Mohammed Elamari produced another masterful performance as he scored seven goals, Jovica Milijic grabbed a hat-trick, Jurgen Pace and Dylan Musu hit a brace each while Xavier Saliba, Cristian Cuadros Silva, Melvin Borg and an own goal added to the Citizens’ impressive tally.
Żebbuġ Rangers returned to winning ways after overcoming Sirens 5-3.
Rangers captain Jamie Portelli and Claudio Venuto netted a brace while Anton Novoa Perez scored the other goal for the winners.
Ryan Gilmour Cassar struck a hat-trick for Sirens.
Mqabba battled back from two goals down to snatch a 2-2 draw against Marsaskala.
Andre Mamo’s double gave Marsaskala a 2-0 lead but Ryan Mifsud responded with a brace of his own to save a point for Mqabba.
