Ayrton Azzopardi has been awarded a scholarship by EntroPay Services to cover the tuition fee of the University of Malta’s Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the current academic year. The scholarship was offered through the Research Innovation and Development Trust (RIDT).
Azzopardi was one of the top-performing students who graduated this year with a BSc AI degree offered by the Faculty of ICT’s Department of AI.
The scholarship was presented at a ceremony during which a memorandum of understanding was signed by Mr Azzopardi, EntroPay Services general manager Mark Anthony Spiteri and University rector Alfred Vella in the presence of AI Department head Alexiei Dingli and RIDT CEO Wilfred Kenely.
Companies are investing in AI to gain a cutting edge in fields such as digital games, virtual reality, robotics, financial technologies, big data, creative technologies, text processing and computer vision.
It is estimated that there is a shortage of 600 ICT workers in Malta and of a million ICT professionals in Europe as a whole.
